Why Do You Need Our Document Scanning Service?
We'll tailor a customized scanning services schedule to meet your needs. If you need help designing your scanning and indexing, ask our scanning solutions experts. We have over 15 years experience!
We'll scan, index and archive your documents with our document scanning service in one process, and customize the number and length of searchable fields. Not only will all of your documents be scanned and on your computer, but you'll be able to find them! The database we compile is ODBC Compliant, so the data can be exported to many different formats including spreadsheets, other database programs including Microsoft Access, PDM programs and EDMS (Engineering Document Management Programs)
Special services include clean up of background noise on older drawings, rotation of the image for best viewing, background suppression & deskewing of documents. We can create multi-page tiff files and PDF files for the Internet. Drawings can be scanned to any of 35 different file formats, including CCITT Group 4 & CALS at whatever dpi is necessary.
To keep the cost of scanning your documents low we simply ask that all documents be scanner ready. That means all documents must be free of all tape and staples. We typically charge by the square foot and pricing is dependent on the following items:
(1) The number of indexing fields your company needs. Two indexing fields are included in the price we quote to you. There is an additional charge for each extra field above that amount.
(2) The quality of the original is an important factor?the better the original, the lower the cost. Very old mylars and sepias with fragile edges take more time to scan to ensure best image quality.
(3) In certain cases, we will build a mylar carrier to protect your drawings if necessary. This requires a small additional cost.
(4) If your organization has pressing deadline, for a little added cost GIS stands ready to meet your needs. We have ample trained staff that can work around the clock if necessary to meet your organization's scanning needs.
The time involved to complete your scanning project is determined by the number of documents, complexity and the condition of your drawings. Also to speed service, several scanners handling different types of drawings can be utilized for your project.
We at GIS have the technical expertise to give you the best quality scans available.
Our personnel are familiar with AutoCAD, ESRI, Microstation and other CAD applications. We have staff that has been working in the scanning industry for the past 12 years.
We scan thousands of drawings, large format color documents and office documents every week.
Documents can be delivered electronically and/or by Federal Express.

It is my pleasure to write this letter praising the work Graphic Imaging Services, Inc. completed for Pacific Gas and Electric Company's electronic map conversion project in 2003. The Graphic Imaging Services, Inc. team was very professional and displayed true teamwork in working with our in house employees and our additional contracting staff. Our project goals became their business goals. They were continually looking for methods and work practices that would help us improve our map product, reduce our budget and maintain our project schedule. The superior performance by their team in 2003 has secured their position in helping us complete our map conversion efforts in 2004 and 2005.
